August favourites 2014

Hi guys!
Well it's that time again, time for my monthly favourites!! Can't believe it's September already!

Skincare

Clinique take the day off balm
this is a new product that I bought last month to take my makeup off on a night and I fell in love with it! It comes in a pretty purple tub with a silver lid and is a solid white balm that melts a little when you touch it. Only a small amount is needed and I love it as it takes all of my makeup including the benefit they're real mascara!

B.liv by cellnique wash, serum and mask
I have done a post and a video on this range and I love them all! I won't go into detail here as I did a full review but I love the smell of them and they make my skin smell and look amazing!

Makeup

Smash box primer for oily skin
I also bought this last month, but I like it more than the one I was using previously. It helps to keep my makeup matte for a little bit longer, and makes my skin feel so smooth! Only a pea sized amount is needed.

Nail varnish

Rose hip by Barry m
This is a new purchase and it is such a beautiful colour! It is part of the gelly shine range and is a very very pale pink colour. I actually thought that it was going to be more of a natural colour but it pleasantly surprised me.

General things
TV shows and movies and books

House
I know that this is finished now and has been for a while but I have started watching it from the beginning again and I am addicted! I have seen them all before but I still find myself getting sucked into each case and the underlying story lines!

Wedding night by Sophie kinsella
I have read this before when it first came out but decided that I wanted to read it again as although I have a kindle, every now and again I like to read a real book that I can touch! This story is funny and I couldn't put it down! It is about a woman who goes through a breakup and gets married to someone she had a fling with 15 years previously, her sister and his friend think it's a bad idea and try to stop it from happening. I won't say anything else as I don't want to spoil it but it is so good!

The inbetweeners 2
I loved the first film, and this one is probably just as funny! Even LJ thought it was funny and he claims not to even like the inbetweeners! This one is set in Australia and is such a good film you can't help but laugh out loud!

Candles

Baby powder Yankee candle
I love the smell of baby powder and I love Yankee candles so when I saw this I became obsessed! There was an offer on so we got the biggest candle there was for the price of the small one. It has approximately 90 hours of burning time and although I used it non stop while I was in the house for about 5 days only a small amount from the top has been used. The thing that I love most about Yankee candles is that the whole of the candle melts while burning, not just the middle of it.

B.liv review

Hi guys!
I was sent some products to try by b.liv which is a range of products by cellnique.  I did not pay anything for these products but all opinions are my own.
I should also point out that I also used the clinique three step system throughout this routine as I have been using it for years and know that any reaction whether good or bad that I experience now is down to the other skin care products that I use.
The photos of these products are all at the end of the post as I can't figure out how to put the photos within the post using blogger mobile,  if anyone can  help with this please let me know.

I was sent no spots bye dots blemish clearing gel, shrink and tighten large pore reducing serum and sensitive salvation repair and rescue original Japan silk mask.

The blemish clearing gel is to be used twice a day,  once on a morning and once at night. It is recommended to use one to two pumps,  but I found that one pump was enough.
The gel is clear and not as thick as I thought it was going to be. It also smells amazing! I usually don't like using scented skincare products but this didn't have any negative effects on my skin at all, and even LJ mentioned how nice it smells. It actually made me look forward to using it. I used one pump with my champneys face brush and it left my skin feeling smooth and although I don't get many spots now, the one I did have disappeared really quickly while using this and it reduced the redness on my forehead and cheeks although I am not sure it is meant to.

The pore reducing serum is a lot less thick than the serum I was using, and is also clear. It is also meant to be used twice a day after the gel. I was a bit surprised by the texture of this as I was expecting it to be thick but it worked well. It says to use a pea sized amount and one pump was more than enough for the whole face. It also smells the same as the gel but not as strongly.
I don't have very large pores but the pores I do have seemed visibly reduced.

The silk mask was probably my favourite part of this range. It is meant to be used 2-3 times a week but as I only had 3 I used it once a week. I am used to having face masks that need to be rubbed into the skin and then washed off after a certain  amount of time, but this mask is one that is just lain over the face and left for 20-30 minutes. I loved this as it meant that it was a lot less effort and a lot less messy. The mask was soaked in a serum, which soaks into the skin while the mask is on the face and the excess serum is rubbed into the face after the 30 minutes. This was genuinely a new thing for me to experience, and I did enjoy it.
After about 10 minutes of the mask being on my face, the skin began to feel a bit tingly but in a good way. It felt very cooling and relaxing. It did freak me out a little bit having the excess serum and I will admit that I had to double check the instructions as it felt a bit weird but after using the mask my skin felt amazing.  It felt smooth, and looked so radiant.

Overall I did love this range, and I would recommend it to everyone with skin like mine or with acne prone skin or large pores. Although it is scented, it did not affect my sensitive skin. And my skin looked and felt amazing, which also meant that my makeup went on a lot smoother than usual.

The lovely people at the company have given me a promotion code to give to you lovely people if you want to buy these products. You will get 20% off any product on the site, except for promotions and sets. The code is KLW20 and the website is www.bliv.com

The letter that I got with my samples stated that the products I received (had they been full) would have cost $20. I think this is a very fair price as the samples weren't even quarter full and lasted me about 2 weeks using them twice a day.

If you do try these products please let me know what you thought of them

Benefit instant comeback serum

I haven't been using this for long but I wanted to do a first impressions post on it. I got a sample of this from the benefit counter in house of fraser and have been using it twice a day since then.
The first thing I noticed was that it smells so gorgeous. To me it smells florally and makes me think of summer which I love especially when I have just worked a really long shift at work and am feeling tired and cranky.
It is a pinky colour (I'm not sure if it appears this colour in the actual bottle but it does in my sample) which is cute, and it is such a lovely texture. It feels really light when I apply it all over my face and not greasy at all.
Since I have been using it I have noticed a difference in my skin already, it seems brighter and there are less blemishes (I had a mini break out just before) but this could be coincidental.
I am planning to keep using it until the sample runs out (as only a small amount of sample is needed I think my sample will last at least another week maybe more) and then I will do another post stating my final thoughts on this product and whether or not I will purchase the full sized product when my spending ban is over.

Have you tried this product? What were your thoughts?

Benefit products I want to try

Hi lovelies,
Since I have started blogging I have come across some really good brands that I didn't really consider using before. One of these is benefit.
I had seen benefit products before I started blogging but I didn't think much of it, but after reading other bloggers reviews about benefit I have started trying it out.
I have previously written about my love for porefessional, and I have ordered the beauty box that's on offer currently but I have made a list of the products I would like to try by them, which hopefully I will be able to buy within the next couple of months:
