My benefit shopping trip

Yesterday L and I went to meadow hall at Sheffield to do some shopping and to go to the cinema. L had seen some posters in boots about a big beauty event so we thought we would go and see what it was all about. The posters said that if we bought 2 products from one of the participating makeup brands we would get 500 points on our boots card which seemed good, and it said the participating brands were giving free makeovers and samples. As I really want to try out some new benefit products we went there, which was located in front of a massive poster about the beauty event. We read the small print to make sure we were getting a good deal and then enquired about it at the benefit counter. The girl didn't mention the makeover just said we could buy two products and get boots points so we bought the porefessional as I needed it, and erase paste as it claims to erase dark circles.
We then had to go to the cinema as we had already booked the tickets but we went back afterwards and asked again about the makeover. The girl seemed really put out that we asked about it and tried to talk me out of it but I said that I wanted to find out how to use their products. She told me there was a minimum spend of £30, I said this wasn't mentioned on the posters anywhere it said a free makeover if a consultant was free and benefit was listed on the poster but she said they had decided to set a spend limit. This annoyed myself and L as surely it is false advertising to say it is free then change your mind, especially as we had read the small print. We told her we had already bought 2 products so she said that would probably do.
She asked what type of look I was going for and I said something that would be good for the summer but not be too heavy. She started with the flawless foundation with the oxygen (I can't remember the name) and asked me what colour I thought I was. Surely the makeup girl should know? But I said I was usually the lightest colour in other brands, so she used the ivory shade. I was already wearing makeup and when I have been to things like this before with different brands, they have removed my makeup first. This girl didn't she just applied the foundation over the makeup which made it look awful. It caked on. She then asked me what other products I wanted so I said ones that I wanted to try and she put cha cha tint on my cheeks and lips but she kept adding more and not blending it correctly so it looked really really patchy. She added a blusher on top of this which just made things worse. She asked me if I wanted to try the new eyeliner and I said yes but that I didn't want a flick but she gave a flick anyway. She applied eyeshadow and that was me done.  She asked what products I wanted to buy and I said I would get the eyeshadow, and asked if I could have a sample of foundation as I didn't want to buy it until I had seen what it looked like when applied properly as it was over my already applied makeup. She said no. She said I couldn't have any samples at all and then said they had no eyeshadow left even though she hadn't checked. L and I left and I went straight to the toilet to wash everything off. While she was seeing to me she also kept leaving to try and get other people walking past to buy some products, I understand that this is their job but there were three of them and the other 2 weren't busy.
I have honestly never had such bad customer service in my life and L was fuming.
We went into house of fraser for some clothes for L and ended up walking past their benefit counter and L said we should ask there for a sample of the foundation. The girl couldn't have been nicer, she pumped some into a little container to try and gave me a sample of the comeback serum. We bought the cha cha balm there as it looked nicer than the tint and I wouldn't be wearing it on my cheeks anyway and she was so lovely. A woman came over to ask her for a makeup tutorial and she was so lovely to her. She was so much better than the girl in boots. L now doesn't think that I should buy any benefit products because of that one girl and as we.make all decisions together about how we spend money, he might insist on it which is a shame.

Have any of you had any bad experiences with any customer service?

June favourites

Hey lovelies, I did try to do this as a you tube video but then I got a bit shy so here are my June favourites:

Benefit porefessional; I think everyone is loving this product right now.  It can be used alone or under foundation and it feels so amazing. It minimises the appearance of pores, and it smooths out the skin so creates the perfect base to apply makeup over.

Soap & glory one heck of a blot: I have been raving about this product so much but I love it. It is so cute, and it makes my skin so matte and doesn't remove any of my other makeup which is perfect.

Soap & glory peach party:this is in my favourites because I think it is a really good colour for the summer but it is a little too shimmery so I apply powder over the top of it to reduce the shimmer slightly.  You can build up the colour as required, and can use each triangle of colour separately if you want which I think would be good for contouring and highlighting.

Garnier ultimate blends shampoo for dry dull hair: I don't actually have dull hair but L bought it as it was in offer and I love it!! It smells so nice and a little goes a long way!  Normally I go through about 6-8 shampoos every month as my hair is so thick so I have to use quite a bit but I have been using this bottle for about 5 weeks and it's still got about quarter of a bottle in it which is amazing!! It makes my hair feel so soft and gorgeous too and even L loves using it. I haven't tried the conditioner yet as L didn't buy it but that is on my to do list.

spa sanctuary hot cloth cleanser: I have done a post about how amazing this product is and I love it so much. I use it whenever I am in the shower and it removes all traces of makeup. It smells so gorgeous and leaves my skin amazingly clean. It is definitely worth a try.

No7 lip crayon and soap &glory sey mother pucker in pink out loud: together these lip products make the perfect colour. It is so girly, summery and gives my lips a gorgeous shine. I don't know what the colour of the No7 crayon is as it has worn off but it is like a darker pink colour.

None beauty favourites:
My favourite TV show: devious maids- it is so interesting and I can't stop watching it.  My sister actually made me watch the first season on skygo and I got hooked. There is so much drama and you get to follow the lives of maids who work for rich people and there are so many secrets and plot twists.  The second season is on now and I love it.

Books: I have just reread the Robert Langdon books by Dan Brown, I love these and if you haven't read them you should. They keep you guessing and there is so many twists in the story lines. I love these so much.

Food: I am addicted to poached eggs right now. I can't get enough of them and the yolk is so yummy when the egg is poached.

That's all for my June favourites, hope you have enjoyed reading.
What are your June favourites? Send me your links on here or on twitter ☺

What makes me feel brand new

I have recently heard that Ryman stationary has launched their new website and would like to know what makes people feel brand new.
For me it is buying makeup from a brand I have never tried before. For example when I started using no7 foundation instead of the revlon colorstay that I had used for about 4 years it did make me feel brand new, it is such an amazing feeling. It makes me feel like I can create a whole new persona and be whoever I want to be because I have changed slightly on the outside. It allows me to feel like I can tackle things that I was previously too scared to do because I have tried a whole new brand. Is that weird?

What makes you feel brand new?

Have a look at the ryman new website, you never know you might find just what you have been looking for (stationery wise):

Get unready with me shower night

Hi lovelies,
I was meant to post this yesterday but due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to so here it is today :-)
I actually have 2 getting unready routines, one for the night that I am having a shower and one for the night that I'm not. I do only shower every two days except when I am on holiday as I then go swimming everyday so also wash my hair everyday.
This is the routine I use while in the shower.

I always wash my hair first, and at the minute I am using garnier ultimate blends shampoo for dry dull hair.
This shampoo is amazing and only a tiny amount is needed to wash the hair as it lathers up really well. It leaves my hair looking and feeling so clean and smells nice too. It is my favourite shampoo currently so us worth a try if you're looking for a new shampoo. I don't always condition my hair (hear me out, I have really sensitive skin on my scalp and a lot of shampoos and conditioners aggravate it, so I can't use 2 in 1 products and can't even use t-gel products so I do have to be very careful with what I use. When I use a conditioner, even when I don't apply it all the way to the roots my hair either looks so oily or my skin starts to flake. I do rinse my hair really well so I am not sure why it looks so oily but that is why I don't always condition. If anyone knows any really good conditioner that won't do this then please let me know ☺)

After I have washed my hair I shave (in the summer I shave my legs every two days while in the shower, in the winter it is maybe once a week as I don't show my legs off as much). I then use the soap & glory sugar crush.
This smells amazing, I do prefer the original scent but L likes this one better so this is the one that is currently in our shower. It smells citrusy which is why L loves it but it does make me feel so refreshed which I love. I use the soap & glory pouffe thing to wash too as I don't feel as clean if I just wash with my hands.
This is when I move onto my face. I use the spa sanctuary brightening facial hot cloth cleanser. I have done a review of this product and I love it. It is so creamy and smells so nice, but also manages to remove all traces of makeup without a fuss! I try to clean the cloth after I have used it but there is a small amount of makeup on it at the minute so I am going to have to wash it in the washing machine.
After this cleanser I use the clinique 3 step soap, I got the bar rather than the liquid soap as it was recommended by the lady at the counter and so far it has been good. I actually use the cloth from the hot cloth cleanser to wash this off too as it just makes me feel cleaner.
After I get out of the shower I do steps 2 and 3 of the clinique 3 step (I am number 3 for those of you that are interested). I use a cotton pad for step 2 and apply step 3 with my fingers as I feel like it melts into my skin a bit better this way.

I then apply eye cream, which at the minute is benefit it's potent eye cream.

I dry my hair and then I am good to go to sleep.

Do you use any of these products?what is your night time routine?

Soap & glory one heck of a blot

I have been using this powder for a couple of weeks now and I am in love with it, I feel like I have been saying that alot about soap & glory products recently.  Before I get into my reveiw properly I will briefly mention the powder I had before this.
I was using FitMe powder in the lightest colour they had but even this was a bit orangey for me.  I applied it using a large brush to try and prevent myself from looking tangoed, and when I first applied it it looked OK but after an hour or so I guess it oxidised or something as it would go much darker.  It would also cling to any dry patches on my skin, so I was in the situation where without powder I would look shiny but with it it would look cakey.
This is when I saw soap & glory on offer in Boots and purchased the one heck of a blot powder.
The first thing to note is the colour, it is perfect for me!! It is such a nice light colour and doesn't darken as the say wears on.  It also doesn't cling to any dry or oily patches so makes my skin look flawless, and it keeps the shine away for the majority of the day.  After about 8 hours my skin gets a little shiny but one quick application of this and I am good to go!! I have never found a powder that I love as much as this before.
The packaging is cute, it is just a plastic container, but it has a mirror in it that is the size of the container which I love as it means I can apply my powder quickly without having to try and find a mirror somewhere.  I also think it is cute the way that the word powder is raised out of the powder (although mine have worn away a little due to using the powder).
Altogether I would repurchase the powder again, it is amazing and I would go as far as to say it is my 'holy grail' powder (if there is such a thing) and I have never described any product in this way.

Have you tried this powder? What do you think about it?

My favourite you tubers

Hi lovelies,
How was everyone's weekend? Hope you all had fun! I thought I would start this week by sharing my favourite you tubers with you all, although I'm not too sure how to create links on blogger mobile but I will try my best!

Juicystar07
This is by a girl (well woman now) called Blair fowler and was actually the first channel I ever subscribed to. She does makeup tutorials and hauls and has another channel to vlog on. I don't know if you have seen her but I love her videos because she always seems so happy and excited about everything and honestly if I am feeling a bit down I watch her videos and cheer right up. She has an infectious personality because she is so bubbly and she takes time to show how to do all of her makeup looks and cleansing routines.
Elle fowler
This is by Blairs sister. She also does videos about makeup, beauty and hauls but she has a different skin type to Blair so does review different products. She has the same infectious bubbly personality that Blair does, and sometimes they do videos together which are so fun! She does apartment tours and I am so in love with her current apartment!!

Fleurdeforce
I only discovered this channel a few weeks ago but I love it! Her and mike are so cute together and she has such a lovely accent. She reviews beauty products and does hauls and room tours, and does videos with other vloggers which are fun to watch. She seems like a really fun person and as a result she makes fun videos.

Miss glamorazzi
again I only discovered this channel recently but at the minute this is actually my favourite one! Ingrid is so pretty but such a lovely person! You can tell she would be an amazing friend. She does beauty videos, hauls, apartment tours and even does some diy projects like making your own decorations and does cooking too. She sometimes does videos with other vloggers especially fleur.  She also explains everything really well and I always want to try the makeup she is reviewing. She has amazing taste in clothes and always looks so immaculate (except in her pjs).

So that's my favourite you tubers of the week, the links I used didn't work :-( sorry!

Let me know what you think of these channels, do you have a different favourite?

Benefit products I want to try

Hi lovelies,
Since I have started blogging I have come across some really good brands that I didn't really consider using before. One of these is benefit.
I had seen benefit products before I started blogging but I didn't think much of it, but after reading other bloggers reviews about benefit I have started trying it out.
I have previously written about my love for porefessional, and I have ordered the beauty box that's on offer currently but I have made a list of the products I would like to try by them, which hopefully I will be able to buy within the next couple of months:

My favourite summer scent

My favourite scent for the summer is actually a perfume (although the smell of freshly cut grass is a close second despite killing me with Hayfever symptoms).
It is honey by Marc Jacobs.  It isn't a very summery scent but it does remind me of summer every time I wear it as it was an early wedding present off my now husband, and I wore it for our summer wedding last year.
I had never tried Marc Jacobs perfumes before but the bottle was so cute that I instantly fell in love (a cute round bottle with bees attached, very cute and summery).
When I wear it I instantly think of the sun and happy times. Perfect for the summer.

How blogging affects me

Since I have started blogging properly I have noticed that I do now try and go for more expensive makeup than I normally would have, and even my clothes choice has been affected. When I go clothes shopping now I find myself thinking 'what would my lovely followers think of this' whereas before I never really thought much about whether it was fashionable or in season I just thought about what it looked like and felt like on me
When I'm going about my job during the day I find myself thinking if I had a YouTube channel people might find this interesting.
I read other peoples blogs and watch their channels and write down products and clothes that I need to try whereas before I didn't really have anything to base my decisions on now I have peoples reviews.
I hope people find my blogs helpful and interesting, as I find other peoples a joy to read.

The person that I think you all know inspired me to want to share my opinions was Blair fowler on @juicystar07, and her sister Elle fowler on @allthatglitters21 but since then there have been a couple of people added to this Ingrid @missglamorazzi and @fleurdeforce.

I will do a post about why I love these people soon.

Please let me know your comments.

Lifestyle: my new house

I say new, we have lived here for 5 months now but it is a brand new build (bellway homes) and we can't paint the walls until it is 9 months old as the house needs to dry out. It is our very first house and we haven't got any furniture, well we have stuff that people have given us and some essential things like a bed from ikea (although this is actually going to be the guest bed).
I am going to be posting about our journey decorating and furnishing our house to make it a home, which I hope you all will enjoy. If you don't want to see this then please let me know :-)
I have accepted it is going to take a while to get every room the way I want and to get the garden done as we have bills to pay and a holiday coming up so we don't always have the money to buy the things I want but it is a journey and one I am very excited about!!

Loreal skin perfection micellar water

I found out about micellar water in other beauty blogs and had to try it! I have tried products like ultrabland by lush before which I haven't liked and so I wasn't expecting much from this.
But, this is so easy to use, I use a cotton pad (in pink, so cute!) to dab it onto my face and eyes and then I use the same pad to wipe it all off. As soon as it comes into contact with the makeup I can see a reaction immediately, my foundation goes from being smooth to all clumped. Apparently the basis of this product is that it contains ions which attract particles in the makeup making it easier to remove.
I love this product at the moment as it does remove every trace of makeup I have on, and doesn't sting my eyes like other products have. It also leaves my skin feeling so soft, and I use the clinique 3 step after so it doesn't leave any residue.
I think a little goes a long way with this, and so this bottle seems like it will last for ages which for £2.89 from body care is a bargain!

Have you tried micellar water?

Benefit porefessional

I got this sample sized porefessional in a benefit box which I mentioned in a previous blog (may have been on mackeminscouselandreviews.blogspot.com) and have been using it ever since.
Firstly, I love the smell! I can't quite describe what it smells like but it is amazing. It is a pale brown/ natural colour and goes on so smoothly. It is meant to reduce the appearance of pores, which it does fantastically, and it also makes my skin feel so smooth and actually a bit powdery which I can't explain, and makes the perfect canvas for the application of makeup. It leaves my makeup flawless all day, which I have never had with a primer before.
It says you can apply this over makeup but I don't think I would, I just apply it over my moisturiser and under foundation. It does suggest to only apply it in problem areas but I do apply it to my entire face.

The full sized version is £24.50 I think but it is worth it and I will be buying it when this sample runs out. I am so in love with this primer it is unreal.

Have you tried this product? What did you think of it?

Spa sanctuary hot cloth cleanser

I bought this product a couple of years ago when I still lived in Sunderland, and boots had a 3 for 2 offer on spa sanctuary and Dr nick Lowe.  To be honest, I forgot I had it until my fella (L) and I were tidying out one of the spare bedrooms and found it. I recently watched a @juicystar07 video (I admit I am a little obsessed) where she was using a hot cloth cleanser to remove her makeup, so I thought why not give it a go.

The cleanser comes in a white tube, and you get a square muslin cloth with it. You're meant to put the cloth under hot water and hold it to your face to open the pores, but I use this while I'm in the shower so I just skip that step as my pores will already be open with the steam. You then apply the cleanser to your face, it is quite thick and creamy and feels so cool and yummy when you put it on, it also smells amazing (I'm not sure what it actually smells of but I love it). You use the cloth to rub it off in circular motions. Repeated if needed bit I find that all of the makeup comes off the first time and I use my clinical three step afterwards so I don't repeat.
Despite this product claiming to remove all makeup, I did have my doubts until I used it and honestly it does. I have never had a cleanser before that successfully removes all of my makeup in one go so this is a must have product for me!
I use this about four times a week in the shower and I will purchase another tube when this runs out, although it shows no signs of running out anytime soon!

Have you used this product or another hot cloth cleanser?

No7 exceptional definition mascara

Hey lovelies,
I have only been using this mascara for about a week but I am already in love with it!! A few years ago I fell in love with a mascara called one by one which was by maybelline and this is the only mascara I have had since then that has come close to it! The brush is different from other traditional mascara brushes, it has rubber spikes on it (same as the maybelline one) which allows the mascara to be applied to eah individual lash rather than clumping a few together which is why I love it! My eyelashes are naturally dark, long and curled so I don't need to apply much mascara and I never use an eyelash curler as it wouldn't make a difference (I don't know where I got my lashes from, my mams are short and straight!!).  Because of this the only real requirement I have for a mascara is to make it look like I have false eyelashes on without actually wearing any (I have not yet managed to apply them without looking like a drag queen) and this product does that perfectly.  It allows the lash line to look as it if it lined with eyeliner (I wiggle the brush about at the lash line a little bit before brushing it over my lashes), and as each lash is separated from each other it looks amazing.  I can not recommend this mascara enough, although if you have sparse lashes, or short lashes I am not sure how well this product will work, but for me it is my new go to mascara.

I will definately be purchasing the full sized product!

First graze box

The graze box is something I have wanted to try for a little while now, and I finally signed up for the free box which came yesterday. I have been so excited for the past week waiting for it to come!
The packaging is cute, it fits through the letterbox which is the point of it , and is completely recyclable which I love!

Each product fits in its own little compartment in the box and are in plastic packaging to keep them safe. I got a booklet explaining what was in my box and giving some information about graze boxes. I was also given some friend codes so if anyone is interested I have one £5 voucher for graze and I have some friend codes so that you can get your 1st 5th and 10th box for free. If anyone is interested get in touch, I will put my email at the bottom and you can also comment on this post or contact me on Twitter.

I got brownie, lemon curd flapjack, Brooklyn bites and cheddar gorge.

The brownie is split into three small pieces so you don't have to eat it all in go (although I was tempted). It isn't as rich and chocolatey as the brownies I normally have but this is probably a good thing! There is some nuts or seeds on top which added a slightly crunchy feel which I thought was nice. My first try of this I thought was yummy, but after the last piece it did leave a bit of a weird feel in my mouth, as if some of the brownie was stuck to the roof of my mouth. Other than that it was gorgeous and I wouldn't complain if I got this in my box again.

The lemon curd flapjack was amazing!! It is a bit sickly so I couldn't eat the whole thing at once which I guess is why it was split into three. It is so lemony and gorgeous and I really hope I get this again (if I get another box). I love lemon flavoured food so this was the thing I was most looking forward to trying! I honestly can't stress how yummy this is.

The Brooklyn bites are cheesy cashew nuts, pepper pretzels and pumpkin seeds. I wasn't sure what to expect with this but everything was amazing, I have never tried pumpkin seeds before but they are nice and I think they are healthy too. I love cashew nuts anyway but covered in cheese they were just out of this world! The pretzels were nice but not my favourite thing in this pack.

The cheddar gorge was more cheesy cashew nuts (yay!), some cheesy herby biscuit things that tasted a lot like rice cakes, and some bread stick type things. Again I loved the cashew nuts! The other things in this pack weren't amazing but were okay.

Altogether I did love this box and I hope my fella agrees to let me keep subscribing to graze, although at the minute he doesn't want me to :-( I would recommend this box to anyone, although obviously the other products may not be as nice as the ones that I received this time.
